Hi! I’m Stella Mpisi, a Congolese-born (Democratic Republic of Congo) South African author, writer, colourism activist and lover of the African continent (oh, and I also have a day job, but who wants to talk about that??!!!).
I’m a 90’s baby born of two amazing Congolese parents andI have two equally amazing sisters. When I was 10 years old, both my parents were tragically killed in a car accident on the same day. Needless to say, life took an unfortunate turn which led to a “difficult” childhood, but I MADE IT! You can read all about it in my autobiography, Sweet Memories: Tears of a Melody. Today, I am an accountant by day and a writer “by life”!
There is absolutely no logical answer to this question! I was probably a writer in mother’s womb! To me, writing is everything and I can’t imagi
ne not writing. Writing for me is the purest form of self-expression and emotional release. I write for my heart and I write for my beautiful people of Africa!
What do I write?
It’s hard for me to box my writing into a single category, but basically I write fiction novels (well, I am busy with a trilogy right now), fiction short stories, poetry, songs and opinion pieces. My main focus areas include colourism, African social and cultural issues, natural hair, life advice and a hint of spirituality.
